How to make your own Christmas Potpourri

December 11, 2017

Potpourri is a great centrepiece for your table at Christmas time, It smells amazing and looks really festive. Here’s how to make your own Christmas Potpourri:

What you need:
Florist Pine Cones
Star Anise
Bag of Cinnamon Sticks
Glass bowl
Dried citrus fruit (I used Oranges and lemons)

How to make:
First, you need to dry out your citrus fruit. Slice your fruit with a knife and place on a baking tray lined with baking paper so they don’t stick. Place in the oven on a low heat, around 75 degrees for 2 hours, then turn over and cook for another 2 hours. If they are still a little moist then place on top of the radiator or in airing cupboard until completely dry.

Once your fruit is dried and ready, mix in your pinecones, Cinnamon sticks and Star Anise. Your pinecones can be shop bought or picked yourself, just make sure they are dried out before using. You can do this by placing on top of your radiator or put them in airing cupboard until they are dry.

Place in a glass bowl or vase of your choice and sit back and smell the Christmas scent! I have mine sit in the middle of my table and it makes an excellent centre decoration.
