Slimming World - Top 5 healthy snack ideas for 2017

Looking for low syn snacks is always a challenge and if you don't have anything available to you then it's so easy to grab a chocolate bar or a packet of crisps and before you know it, you've blown all your daily syn allowance. Here are my ultimate top snack ideas for 2017 - either low or free of syns.

1. Popcorn

 Popcorn is a great low syn snack. If you pop your own kernels then they are 4.5syns for 25g (that is a BIG bowl of popcorn) then I sprinkle sweetener and salt over them. If you want instant popcorn, then Walkers sun-bites whole grain popcorn (sweet and salty) are 2.5syns per 14g bag (as per image above)

2. Jelly

 Jelly is a great snack and so easy to make. I use Hartley's sugar-free sachets, and it's 1.5 syns per sachet, which makes 4 portions so it's nearly 0.5 syn per portion. I add fresh strawberries for extra speed!

3. Chicken

If you are hungry and a piece of fruit isn't going to cut it, cook up some chicken and keep in the fridge for a filling protein snack! I try to make sure I always have a lunch box full of chicken to hand so I'm not tempted with something naughty - it really does do the trick, you just need to make sure you resist the skin! I buy the chicken thigh or legs boxes, around 3pound from Tesco or Lidl and batch cook them (you get around 9 pieces) then snack on them if I need something a little more substantial.

4. Dip

 Making your home made dip and using speedy foods like carrots, cucumber and celery for dipping is an excellent way of adding extra speed food! My favourite is my syn free Tzatziki dip made with fat free yogurt, mint and cucumber. You can find the full recipe here.

5. Boiled Eggs
