Autumnal, Rustic & Romantic | Real Wedding

September 15, 2015

It's a bit late but here we go Folks,
Our wedding day meant so much,  it signified the end of the tough times and was a very overdue celebration with family & friends. Autumnal, rustic & romantic in theme, we made the most of our favourite season and even managed to include acorns in the button hole & bouquet (a pinspiration from the very early days of planning).

PHOTOGRAPHY | Joab Smith, I hunted high and low for this guy and he was so professional on the day, he went above and beyond our expectations and all the while it was like have a friend attend the wedding. You should really have a look, you won't regret it I promise! Many of our guests commented on him actually mentioning how at ease they felt and that he just did not stop working.

BEAUTY | I went to Boots and had my wedding make up by Dior. I then headed to the Metropolis salon and had my sorted out with my girls Sharlene & Serena. My perfume was Jimmy Choo and I wore freshwater pearl necklace and bracelet, with my Granddads sixpence in my shoe.

DRESSES| I had two wedding dresses, 1st a designer by St Patrick - style Caspio - this was a beautiful dress with many layers yet a classic lace a-line. The 2nd was from ebay, shipped in from China for £24.99 at a standard size 10 strapless tea-length. I sent this dress to MrsWTutus and had a custom made underskirt in pale blue - it was perfect for our evening swing dance.
The maids & flower girls were in Monsoon dresses and jackets. The flower girl cardigans came from John Lewis. The Mother of the Bride was is Phase Eight. The Groom wore a 3 piece suit by Lambretta a brown tie from Next and the Groomsmen had taupe ties from Next too.

THE FLOWERS | I didn't consider that I would be excited by flowers but when they arrived they were everything I had hoped for and more. Put together by the talented ladies at The Secret Garden. The grooms buttonhole & my bouquet included acorns that I had collect and cooked the previous year.

STYLING | We made the table decorations ourselves with twisted willow, hurricane vases and tree log slices, we included quotes in frames and scattered skeleton leaves on the table with single stem flowers in wooden holders. We wanted rustic, natural and romantic.

THE FOOD | We had a 3 course meal, the guests pre ordered. The food was a huge hit with the guests everyone loved it which was so good to hear as it was the most expensive part of the day...phew! In the evening we had a cheese tower cake and with breads, cold meats and pate....this also went down really well with the guests, the certainly tucked in!

THE CAKE | We had a cheese tower cake, we had spent an afternoon sampling different cheeses and we created our own tower, it was yum!

SPEECHES| 3. Sharlene, my best woman and friend - Kai, the best man - Dave, my husband - he surprised me and all of our guests and sang his speech to me, I shared it here on our YouTube channel.

THE ENTERTAINMENT | A live band Milo Max - the band was beyond brilliant. The music was incredible! Dave is a musician and so are many of his friend, our guests, who attended - any live music was subject to many a critical ear and they all loved them. When you hear great comments about the entertainment you know you're on to a winner and the guests are having a great time. We also had a photo booth and this was soooooo popular, I would recommend Click Booth for any party!

FIRST DANCE| Sing Sing Sing - we learnt a simple swing dance as Dave didn't want to do a classic 'penguin' dance, he was the driving force behind this one, again I shared it over on our YouTube channel.

THE GIFT LIST | We used Patchwork Present - an online cash gift list, guests really went for it and they all contributed to our FamilyMoon to Disneyland Paris.
