Be:Fit - ditch the fads and become healthier and happier

Hi Folks,

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to be invited to the UK's best-kept fitness secret, the Be:Fit festival at the Business Design Centre in London. A 3 day Exhibition that showcased everything you needed to upgrade your lifestyle from stylish sports wear, demonstrations on healthy recipes, healthy and organic products, showcasing fitness classes, and talks with nutrition and health experts, including Olympic icons.

As I stubbed out my cigarette and entered the front doors, I knew I was in the right place for inspiration on changing my lifestyle to a healthy, happier self! I'll put it into prospective for you. I'm a smoker, I'm over weight and I've tried every fad diet going! I need something that will change my relationship with food and look after my body.

I had the pleasure to sit in a class with Madeleine Shaw (Nutritionist, Blogger and Author). She has a brand new book out called 'get the glow' where she did a few readings for us. And to be honest, I was inspired. For years I've been trying to lose weight with silly quick fix diets, depriving myself from the things I love then having moments of caving in and binging. Having episodes of joining the gym and going crazy at it for weeks - too much so that I didn't enjoy it and give up. It's a repetitive cycle for me, and one that needs to change. Listening to Madeleine made me realise that it's about the bigger picture. Finding what works for you, and changing your lifestyle for good. Her book 'get the glow' shows you that eating well can easily become a way of life. It contains 100 wheat and sugar free recipes, but it's much more than a healthy recipe book. It teaches you how to heal your digestive system and how to overcome bloating and stress, and guides you on living this way forever. It also includes a six-week plan and advice on kitchen essentials and eating out.

One of the sponsors of the festival was Fage Total yogurt and I was excited to take part in a live demonstration of some healthy recipes that included Total yogurt. I'm a huge fan of total yogurt so I was definitely taking notes and watching intently. Chicken Power salad was my fav!
