Wedding Flowers: Handpicked

November 26, 2013
Wow how expensive are flowers?

Over the past couple of months I've see some wonderful centrepieces but I have been shocked at how much these babies cost.

"Flowers for this one centrepiece £350"

So then there's the bouquets, they are too expensive.
They aren't important to me, they are just flowers, decoration, a tradition with a ridiculous price tag.

Honestly, I think the supermarkets do lovely bunches for anything from £15-£35. What guest actually cares anyway? What bridesmaid cares? Who actually cares about the flowers, what they are or what they look like.

So anyway, I felt a bit dejected.  I didn't think about a budget for flowers but I'm in luck. My mum is growing some for my wedding, and I'll hand tie my bunch and the bridesmaids the night before my wedding, empty my fridge and store them in there ( that's what she told me to do anyway)

So here they are, my chosen hand picked flowers, saving me a small fortune.

Honesty, Cream Rose, White Chrysanthemum and Dahlias

 I took the time to find out their meaning, not that I think this is important but it's interesting nevertheless.

Flower meanings: {via a good ol'google}

  • DAHLIA - Dignity and Elegance, Forever Thine
  • HYDRANGEA - Thank you for understanding, frigidity, heartlessness
  • ROSE (WHITE) - Innocence, Purity, Humility, I am Worthy of You, Secrecy, Silence
